When looking into purchasing and installing a Tesla Solar Roof, it’s natural to want to know more about the process and how it involves you, the client. We’ve gathered some more specific information that you might be inquiring about during your Solar Roof installation.
From Order to Installation
A common question we get about Solar Roof is how long the process from order to installation is. There isn’t a fixed timeline due to varying local permitting and utility timelines, but a general window is typically one month to six months depending on the location of your home or building. As far as what work is required for installation also depends on your roof; Tesla Solar Roof can be installed on most roofs, however, not all roofs are eligible for that type of construction. A licensed Phoenix roof inspector will determine the eligibility of your existing roof. If it does not pass the criteria for a Solar Roof, we will let you know at the end of the inspection and can talk about additional solar options that can still benefit you.
Phoenix also offers:
Please note: Roofing repairs, replacement or addition of gutters, skylights, or vents are not included in the cost of Tesla Solar Roof.
When Installation Begins
When installation officially begins, we do require that someone 18 years or older be home for at least the first two hours to allow access to needed areas; additional site access might be required as the progress continues. We will always let you know and coordinate with you to determine what access is needed.
Installation Time-Frame
The installation crew typically needs five to seven business days to complete the installation for smaller roofs, and 14-28 days for much larger roofs. Of course, time-frames always vary. We will, however, always keep you updated with the schedule so there are no surprises.
Pricing
As with all construction projects, price will vary due to the size, complexity, and steepness of your roof. One thing to note is that the price of a Tesla Solar Roof is comparable to high-end roofing products such as wood, slate, and metal. By adding in the cost of the solar system, the prices are closely on par with each other. An added benefit of a Tesla Solar Roof is that there are no penetrations that will be drilled into your roof. The roof itself is replaced with the solar system, so it is unlike any other traditional roofing!
